On October 14th, 2023, in Washington DC, A’nee Johnson was struck by a car when she was allegedly pushed into the road during an altercation. Also identified by police as Anee Roberson.
Officers were advised the victim was assaulted and then struck by a vehicle. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she later died.
Police say the driver remained on the scene and was not involved in the assault. The driver of the vehicle is not facing charges, according to police.
Location: 900 block of U Street Washington, DC, at about 4:20 a.m.

Murder Suspect:
Fox5: “A medical examiner’s autopsy ruled Roberson’s death a homicide and the cause of death to be multiple blunt force injuries. Investigators are working to identify suspects in her assault, and are offering $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.”
Advocate: “Officers on patrol were flagged down shortly after 4:20 a.m. by a witness who said a woman had been assaulted, struck by a car, and was now lying in the road near the gay Nellie’s Sports Bar in D.C. According to police, Roberson, who sometimes used the name A’Nee Johnson, was in the roadway as a result of the assault. She was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.”
Police did not indicate whether Roberson’s killing was a hate crime or related to her trans identity.
“The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and ruled the cause of death to be multiple blunt force injuries and the manner of death a homicide,” MPD said in a statement, adding, “Detectives are working to identify the suspects who assaulted Roberson resulting in her death.”
