On September 12th, 2010, in Newark, NJ, Carmen, as she preferred to be called, was shot three times in her cousin’s apartment by a man she met at a club that night. When he found out she was transgender, he became enraged and killed her.
On June 21st, 2010, in Chicago, IL, Sandy was found shot on the street. Police believed the motive could have been related to sex work or a possible robbery. No suspect or motivation was found.
On May 16th, 2010, in Chicago, IL, Selma was found floating in the harbor. Police ruled the death a suicide.
On May 7th, 2010, in Milwaukee, WI, Chanel (Dana Larkin), was working as a sex worker when she was approached by Andrew Olaciregui. After getting into his car, she asked if he was ok with her being male and he said no. A confrontation ensued and he shot Chanel, killing her.
On April 3rd, 2010 in Charlotte, NC, Toni Alston was shot at his front door when opening it at around 10PM.
On March 30th, 2010, in Queens, NY, Amanda was found dead in her apartment. She was strangled to death by a man who was later convicted of her murder.
On January 18th, 2010, in Houston TX, Myra Chanel Ical was found in a field, beaten to death. No suspect was found and details of her death were not released by police. No motive was determined.
